SK8R Kids

we took the kids to the skate park downtown with skateboards, scooters, and bikes, just to see what kind of carnage there'd be. there was a lot! :) but they had a ball. they can't wait to go back, even though they spent more time on the ground than actually sk8ting! :)

Spring Break at Shawnee

the kids and i took a trip down memory lane for the first few days of their spring break. we went to shawnee state university, where allen and i went to college. it's really changed since then! (of course it wasn't *that* long ago!) lots of new buildings, housing, and even roads that disappeared. the kids loved walking through the halls and lizzy kept saying she felt like she was really in college. :) we also visited the innermisison campus ministry which is really growing. (their site's still under construction) i was there at its beginning and it was small, but we knew it could be great. it's awesome to see so many college kids hanging out there! they have a building close to the campus with lots of fun things to do. dsp donated some software and cds so hopefully we'll see some new digital scrapbookers too. :) i also showed them the amazing murals on the flood wall of the ohio river. then we headed to shawnee forest for some hiking and swimming at

Back from the Bahamas!

we're back from our cruise - the sunshine and beautiful days of the bahamas - back to 40° and rain in good ol' ohio. :) but at least we missed the entire blizzard of 2008! over a foot of snow here and it all melted before we got back. we're all tired and sunburned, but we had a blast! it'll take a while for us to adjust to only three meals a day and no all-you-can-eat buffets open round the clock. and to not waking up to a new island every day with gorgeous clear water everywhere. we got to eat, snorkel, eat, kayak, eat, swim, eat, climb rock walls, eat, watch great shows and comedians, eat, play ping pong, eat, enjoy beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the ocean, eat, and eat some more! we enjoyed time with grandma, grandpa, and uncle ryan. and the kids LOVED going to adventure ocean each day where they played, did experiments, and had all kinds of fun (and the adults loved the break!) great vacation, although now we'll need a few days to recover!

Ice Paradise

everything here is covered in a layer of ice! trees, grass, gravel, nothing's safe. but it's all just beautiful! and of course since i just got my new baby, my nikon 18-200 lens, i had to go practice with my new super zoom powers! 200 photos later, and i'm really happy with it!! just a few below.
the kids had yet another snow day and loved playing in the ice. even sydney enjoyed eating the fallen branches (that were already budding!)
