Point Reyes National Seashore

Because they always know how to pick great places to visit, we met Lauren Bavin (DSP designer and one of our favorite Kiwis), Kerry Allen (her gracious American chauffeur), and Sailing Sue (because once you have a username at DSP, it's hard to get used to real names!) at Point Reyes National Seashore. We drove up the coast, which was insanely curvy, and I can't remember much past trying to take photos despite my carsickness. We went to the shore, lighthouse, overlooks, beaches, and walked along the San Andreas Fault, learning about earthquakes as we went. Of course the kids did theJr. Ranger program . We saw elephant seals, hawks, elk, deer, deer, and more deer. Really, deer everywhere. This was a beautiful place, and just miles and miles of it, only an hour from San Francisco.
