Field trip

We took a flippin field trip to the Flippin Fire Dept and the Flippin Police Dept. Yes, I'm sure they're quite tired of the comments. But when a homeschool group said they were going to Flippin, of course we had to take a road trip for that! It was really good and the kids enjoyed it. They learned all about the equipment and how the departments work together.  It was a fun day!

Back in April...

Catching up on the blog a bit. Apparently we haven't posted much since April!  Lots of animals, working, avoiding the heat, that's about all you missed. :) It was morel mushroom season (aka a few days, so don't miss them!) Walker Kitty was in a weird position, as usual.  We got some more chicks, because according to Allen, one can never have too many. (One can, just fyi.)  Allen wired the barn so we now have light! He also taught Matt about wiring electricity with no explosions, so all is well.

Good cat, bad cat, chicks, bunnies, views

Walker Kitty slept upright for hours on this hard stick for some reason. Later, she used it as a pillow. Better?  The chicks are settling in.  As is the cat, who we found inside the locked brooder! At least she was good.  Bunny pile.  They like to peek out the cracks.  And sit in their food.  It's still a little stormy, but always pretty.  A slice of Bull Shoals Lake from a neighbor's view.

Visiting the goats, new chicks

We went to pick up some new chicks and to visit the goats we had last year. Lily and Lucy were especially happy to see Matt! Annie was a bit wary, but looked happy and healthy. He got hugs from Lucy... And Lily...  And Lily walked leaning right against him. You could tell she was happy.  We happened to see a brand new calf. So cute!  And a goat randomly running up the road on the drive. It happens.  We brought home our first batch of chicks!

Bunnies, cat, haircut, Easter eggs

Lots and lots of babies. Gypsy's are so pretty. This little one always seems to sleep upside down. Making friends in the bunny room of happiness.  This one is so cool, but hard to get a picture of. He has really dark blue eyes and white toes.  She was tired of me taking pictures of her babies.  These are sisters from the same mister, but different mamas!  We named them Peaches and Cream.  We moved the trampoline mat where Walker Kitty had been sleeping and just threw it on top of a crate. She decided to sleep there anyway, even though she was precariously perched over the edge! Matt requested a mohawk and I attempted.  Fortunately it's not so bad when he combs it down!  We decided our Easter Eggs needed no coloring this year. They're so pretty fresh from the neighbor's hens! And we're very thankful to have fresh eggs all year whether ours ever decide to lay any or not.
