The Green Race!

We've wanted to see the Green Race  near Asheville NC for years, but our travels never quite aligned. Until this year! Called the "greatest show in all of sports", this is a crazy kayaking race down the Green River Narrows. They time the contestants down the river with many class V rapids (scary) and thousands of people brave the crazy long, steep hike to watch and cheer them on. The kayaking was awesome, the rescues exciting, and the carnage scary but cool. We're so glad we got to experience this adventurous race. Of course the boys were dying to get in their kayaks!!

Arkansas River kayaking

Allen and Josh took one last kayaking trip down the Arkansas to town (where the whitewater park is). They also took the GoPro so we could see a little of what we missed.

Allen's too small for his kayak :)

Since Allen lost 65 pounds, he's way under the weight range for his kayak. So he bought a shiny new Jackson Rockstar! They had to try it out at the whitewater park. Everyone loves it!

Cottonwood Pass, Buena Vista, Salida

We drove up Cottonwood Pass to see the views and it was beautiful. Randomly, a family brought their goats to the lake. :) Then we headed to Salida to climb and kayak.  And randomly, some people ride their horses to town. :)
