Books about homeschoolers for homeschoolers!

All of you homeschooling readers (especially my fellow roadschooling readers) have to notice the lack of fiction books about homeschooling. So many kids' books out there center around school, making it harder for our kids to relate to the characters. Not to mention the lack of respectful families and positive attitudes (oops, I just mentioned).
BUT this publishing company is just what we (and millions of other homeschoolers) need! Please check out Do Life Right, Inc. and their KickStarter campaign. You can support this project for as little as $5 and help get more of these books on the shelves! Click on the campaign to read all about it. We've started reading a series of books they publish and are impressed.

The kids and I loved Wright on Time: Arizona, by Lisa M. Cottrell-Bentley. (We bought the Kindle version.) It's about a family traveling the country in an RV (yes, perfect for us!) And just like our life, the characters in the books are learning so much as they go. Even better, my kids learned from them with definitions and science lessons integrated seamlessly into the story. Plus it was just darn interesting as they explored a cave and found a mystery. Utah is next (and where we're heading soon). All 50 states are in the works and we can't wait to read the rest!

So check out the Wright on Time series and also the KickStarter campaign so we can all enjoy lots more of these kinds of books with our kids! We're supporting it and hope you will consider. It's such a great idea for all kids, whether they learn at home or at school!

This comment is on a different subject, but I am really wanting to ask it. What you are doing (unlocating) is something I dream of doing. I would love to be able to tour the country long term. The thing that trips me up is understanding how people who live on the road make an income. Especially in this bad economy and when they don't stay anywhere long term. I have looked through the families on the road website and read a few blogs, but I am still confused. I would love to go and explore, but have to figure out how to make it work and so far have not been able to. How do you or others that you know who are fulltiming make an income?

I hope you can, it's a great opportunity! We have an online business (and have since 2004), so as long as we have internet, our location doesn't matter. Yes, I fully appreciate that we're very blessed! Many save up and travel for a year. Auctioning your possessions gives you a budget. Some find short term work along the way. But most I know have a job that allows them to work remotely or they've saved for a certain period of time.

That book sounds great, what age group is it recommended for? My 5-year-old loves reading and is advanced for her age. Do you think she might enjoy it?

I'm really not sure! I think ours would have enjoyed it at 5. We did the Kindle version and I read it to ours.

Hi there! I just found your blog and we are bout to unlocate too, with our 6 month old baby.

What do you do for Internet? Are you stuck with a 5-6GB mobile stick, or is there something better out there?
