Allen did the cactus to clouds hike, and said it was the hardest he's ever done! He climbed 9 THOUSAND FEET up San Jacinto. He had to start an hour BEFORE sunrise (and unfortunately I had to drive him!) to beat the heat later in the day. This trail is usually too hot in the summer, and too snowy in the winter, so he hit it at just the right time. At the top is the Palm Springs Tramway (the only way I personally would get to the top!), so he got to ride that down after his full day of climbing and scrambling on a barely marked, but awesome trail.
He got to watch the sun rise, had a great view of the valley, and I'm sure enjoyed every bit of the torture of climbing. More power to him I say!
